Chief Michael Harnishfeger is a 33-year veteran of law enforcement having served over 22 years as a police chief in Ohio, beginning his appointment as Ada’s police chief in 2001.  Chief Harnishfeger is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College in 1996, was designated as a Certified Law Enforcement Executive in 2001, graduated from the 235th Session of the FBI National Academy in 2008 and the Rural Executive Management Institute in 2011.  Chief Harnishfeger is active in the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police and served as president of the OACP from October, 2010 to September, 2011. 
Sgt. Mike Bollinger is a 16-year veteran of law enforcement having served the Village of Ada since 2000 and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2002.  Sgt. Bollinger is a graduate of First Line Supervisor Training in 2002 and Supervisory Training and Education Program in 2010 and from Police Executive Leadership College in 2013. Sgt. Bollinger was our Employee of the Year in 2012.  Sgt.Bollinger currently works the evening shifts as a supervisor.
Sgt. Donnie Deckling is a 21-year veteran of law enforcement having served the Village of Ada since 2001 and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2005.  Sgt. Deckling currently works the mid and evening shifts as a supervisor.  Sgt. Deckling is in charge of departmental training, scheduling and the Ada contingent of the Hardin County Special Response Team.  Sgt. Deckling was selected as our officer of the year for 2004.  Sgt. Deckling is a graduate of the Supervisory Training and Education Program in 2012.  In 2015 Sgt. Deckling became the K9 Handler for the department.
Sgt. Matt Purdy is a 15-year veteran of law enforcement having served the Village of Ada since 2001. Sgt. Purdy was promoted in September of 2015 to his current rank. Sgt. Purdy was selected as our Officer of the Year for 2003 and has been decorated with a number of departmental citations and awards.

Ptl. Alec Cooper began his duties with the Ada Police Department on August 29, 2011 having recently graduated from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy and with an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement from Rhodes State College in Lima, Ohio.  Ptl. Cooper served an internship with the Ada Police Department in 2011 and later filled the role of police dispatcher for the Ada Police Department until his appointment as a full-time police officer. Ptl. Cooper was selected as our Employee of the Year in 2014.

Det. Rob Sheldon began his career with the Ada Police Department in February of 2012.  Det. Sheldon has over 23 years in law enforcement having served with the Ft. Shawnee Police Department and American Township Police Department.  Det. Sheldon also served as a Ranger with the Johnny Appleseed Metro Parks District and in Sidney, Ohio.
Ptl. Andrew Peterman began his career with the Ada Police Department in April of 2013 having recently graduated from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.  Andrew serves as the departmental evidence and property custodian.
Ptl. John Iten began his career with the Ada Police Department in February of 2016, coming from the Spencerville, Ohio Police Department after graduating from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.
Ptl. Penny Keller-Clark began her career with the Ada Police Department in May of 1989 and is the longest serving officer on the department.  Ptl.Clark was the Employee of the Year in 2007 and the only part-time employee to receive this award.
Ptl. Matt Styer began his career with the Ada Police Department in December of 2000 and currently serves as a part-time officer.
Police Clerk Doris Essex has been with the Ada Police Department since May of 2004.  Doris was assigned to the night shift as a dispatcher and has been our Employee of the Year in 2005 and 2009; the only employee of the department to be awarded this high honor more than once.

 

Doris was promoted to Dispatch Supervisor in 2011 and was responsible for maintaining our 24 hour per day, 365 days per year dispatch operations until those operations ceased in July of 2015.  Since then Doris has served as our Police Clerk.

S.A.F.E.R. Program
Ptl. Amy Geiger began her career with the Ada Police Department in September of 2016 and currently serves as a full-time officer.  Ptl. Geiger was an officer with the Shawnee Township Police Department and a Sergeant with the Spencerville Police Department prior to coming to the Ada Police Department.
Ptl. George Schlub began his career with the Ada Police Department in July of 2017 and currently serves as a part-time officer.  Ptl. Schlub previously served with the Kenton Police Department as well as the Forest Police Department.
